We’ve cancelled the motorhome………This all happened last week. We started thinking if it was meant to be why hasn’t it come in?
We were told in June 2021 it would arrive in January 2022. Then we were told it would be March or April. In February we were told it would be in September. Now we are told that’s not guaranteed either because there are parts that they can’t get from Europe. The factories keep shutting down because of COVID and now the situation in Ukraine is not helping.
So we were having a drink with friends and Chris and I were talking about this. And my friend said, “Well, why don’t you think about getting what we’ve got?” They have this caravan with an awning and everything.
I said, “I’ve never towed anything in my life, you know?” Our friend kept saying “well, you can do this, everybody can tow, you just need to learn a few things and you’ll be fine”
So next thing we get back to our lodge and she has sent me a link of a caravan that was for sale, brand new and half the price of the motorhome. My friend said, “your car should be big enough to tow this, why don’t you click this link and find out”…..so I clicked it.
Within 15 minutes the guy rang me from the garage, and said “I think you’re interested in this caravan?” I say, “Well, I don’t really know yet” and he says, “Well, why don’t you come and have a look? We’re only 19 miles from where you are.”
“If you fill in this form and give us a deposit, you can come and have a look. If you don’t like it, you can have your deposit straight back. This money stops us from selling it to anyone else until you get here.”
So, okay, it was only 250 quid, I thought “I’ll do it.
We went down to see it and we fell in love with it. Absolutely fell in love with it! So we put a deposit on it and decided to take it.
Back at Base
We get back to the site and I’m saying “I know my car will pull it but I always said if I didn’t get a motorhome, I’d get a new car”.
I thought to myself, a brand new car is going to take a year to come just like the motorhome because you just can’t get hold of them at the moment. Off I went searching the internet.
I found a nearly new car that was only built last year. It had 5400 miles on the clock.
This was in another town, which was about 30 miles away. My friend suggested going to have a look at it. So off we went to have a look at it.
We ended up buying a new car and a caravan all in the same week!!
AND we can’t wait for them both to arrive!
Watch out for our adventures to come.
