Traveling Is FUN, So What Sucks About It? (Fun Post)
Enjoying vacations/holidays and traveling with your loved ones is the highlight of the year for many families. Reaching your destination is exciting, awesome and with the anticipation of lots of fun you just know you are going to create some wonderful family memories.
There is always a downside to everything. I believe if you are prepared then the downsides overrule anything.
This is a kind of fun post, raising the downsides that suck about traveling and if you can see the funny side of things it doesn’t seem so bad when you look back.
So, what sucks about traveling? (Watch the Fun Video at the bottom of this post)
Lets begin with the packing.
Deciding what to take can either be fun or a nightmare. It all depends where you are going. If you know the weather is going to be hot or warm, then it’s going to be an easy task. If you are going where the weather is unpredictable, you are going to want to take stuff “just in case”. Then you might find your bag is too heavy.
No easy solutions here. Whatever you decide, the bag has to be the right weight.

At The Airport
You arrive and groan when you see the queues at the check in. Why is it that you get behind someone with a problem and your queue is moving slower than anyone else’s? I mean when you get there you are dealt with quite quickly, so why does that “person” in front take forever to get checked in?

Still At the Airport – Getting through security.
You have to almost strip to get through. Shoes off, coat off, belt off, pockets emptied, ipad out of bag etc. Oh No……… you have a bottle of water…. It’s taken off you. Blast, you forgot you had that perfume in your handbag and it’s over 100mls!
Then, you get your belongings through the screening and low and behold, you beep and have to be searched.
Funny story (mine)…. I beeped through security once, after a heavy day in London. I was traveling back to Portugal. Anyway, they weren’t satisfied that I hadn’t got a concealed weapon under my clothes and I was taken into a room where I was “stripped searched” Seriously, I had to take all my clothes off and that was not a pretty sight, believe me. Embarrassment is not the word I would use.

At the Gate
Your gate has to be the furthest away from all the others. It takes you forever to get there and you are beginning to feel a tad stressed. Why can’t your gate be the nearest, you ask?
When you finally get there, there are no seats so you are stood around waiting to board.
You then discover, the plane you are traveling on hasn’t even arrived yet!!
All the staff are chatting having such fun, laughing and giggling and all you want to do is GET ON THE PLANE. Why are they taking so long?
Finally, you get to board the plane. This maybe after boarding a bus that takes you to it. It doesn’t matter that you might have had priority boarding. Once on the bus it’s a “free for all”.
Once boarding the actual aircraft, it takes forever to get to your seat because everyone in front of you is taking “years” to put their stuff in the overhead storage compartments. I mean, why do some people take so long for heavens sake?
You do eventually sit down. You watch with amusement other people struggling to fit their bags into the storage and you wonder how some of them will fit anyway.
6. The Flight
Way to go, you’re off and on your way. Excitement really starts and you forget all those silly things that irritated you prior to getting on.
Yesssss, you are going on your hols. Way to go.
Just a minute, you have screaming kids behind you that keep kicking the back of your seat. AND low and behold, the person in front decides to recline their seat and you have at least half an inch room to breathe.
The guy next to you falls asleep and starts snoring. Give me strength, you say.
The woman in front is coughing her insides out and you are thinking you don’t want to catch what she has got, not for your holiday.
After taking forever to cruise to the gate, and waiting for everyone to retrieve their hand luggage you finally disembark to your destination.
It is probably a “two mile walk” to the baggage area.
Everyone’s luggage arrives and yours is either the last or it doesn’t arrive at all! (Thankfully this doesn’t happen a lot, does it?)
Maybe you have a private transfer, or you may be on the tour operator’s bus. If you are on the bus, your hotel is the last on the list and you are the final ones to reach their final destination.
Hey Ho, who cares, you have finally arrived to enjoy your “well earned” holiday/vacation.
You might have gathered, I travel a lot. Not everything I have mentioned happens. I have rolled a few experiences together to give you a FUN account of what has happened at various times to us over the years.
Fun Video Of Traveling
We laugh now and when we do travel, we know what can and might happen. Seeing the funny side of traveling makes things so much easier and at the end of the day the FUN side of being away far out weighs the downsides. After all, I keep putting myself through it by traveling even more.
