Your Story: Why Does Your Business Need Your Story?
Your story of the personal journey you have taken helps other people to see that success is possible for them too. When you share your ups and downs as well as your successes, it hammers home that they can do it too.
I was at a recent mastermind retreat with my coach, Ray Higdon. We covered telling our story and why its so important to craft our journey for the audience we want to attract.
Larry and Taylor Thompson, who are veterans in the network marketing profession shared their wisdom about tapping into the emotions of other people. After all, we ALL buy emotionally, believe it or not.
How My Story Might Help You Create Yours
My background is in social work but it wasn’t always that way.
My background is in social work, but it wasn’t always that way.
I was a single parent many years ago, scratching the pennies to feed my kids. My self-esteem was at an all-time low and confidence is something other people had, not me. T
he night I only had a pound left in my purse – just enough to buy a can of beans and a loaf of bread for my kids, was the night I was determined that I wasn’t going to live my life in poverty forever.
There’s nothing worse than feeling you can’t feed your children or pay the bills. I’ve hit rock bottom, and Ive been in dire straits and I’m so thankful for the night of beans and bread, It changed my whole life.
Life of My Dreams
Now I live the life of my dreams. I own homes in England and Portugal. I’ve helped my kids on the housing ladder. I’ve created time freedom for my husband and me. I travel the world and I get to see my grandkids grow and thrive.
There’s other women just like me with challenges in their life that I am looking to help. I’m here to be that beacon example to other women to change their life and show them whats possible.
There’s nothing worse than not knowing where that next penny is coming from.
And there are ways in which you can change your life.
I specialise in coaching women. It’s what I do, because I want to show women that they don’t have to stay in poverty forever, that they can change their life. And if I can help them do that, then that will be the most rewarding thing in the world to me.
I look back on my life now, and I think, wow, what I’m doing now was beyond my dreams when I was absolutely broke, and I want to be able to share my knowledge, my experience and my guidance to any woman who wants to change their life or better the life that they currently have. That’s what I’m here for.
Health Aspect To My Story
If women haven’t got a business yet and are wondering what to do, I have a way that may be something they like and it will help with their health too.
I now have an auto immune disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis. I know that the supplements I have been taking have helped me with my overall general health.
None of us wants to feel tired all the time, lacking energy, especially if we have other health problems as well. Plus, when you’re working a business its vital to take care of your health.
You can find you’re working long hours or concentrating so much on your business and other aspects of your life that you forget to take care of YOU.
This is a big reason why I have included health in what I do with the coaching I offer because without good health then everything we do is affected.
I want to do everything I can to help you succeed in your business and life and stay healthy while you are doing it.
Now Its Your Turn
Perfecting my journey will be ongoing and I hope me telling you my journey will now help you to tell yours. Taylor Thompson also talks about the “Elevator Pitch” . That is a shortened version of your story you can tell by the time you reach the floor you are going to. This will be a challenge for me as I never seem to lose the will to talk too much ha ha.
When you are crafting what you want to say, remember the emotions that you felt and share them. There will be people out there that NEED to hear how things were and are for you now. It gives them hope for their future and a sense of, “If she can do this, then I can too”.
