Social Media: #7 Tips Revealed

Social Media: #7 Tips RevealedSocial Media: #7 Tips Revealed

Social Media has changed the way businesses/people market their products/services and communicate with customers.

It has enabled us to interact with our prospects/customers in a more personal manner and build better relationships. Thanks to Social Media, more people can be reached in a shorter space of time than in the past.

While the main efforts may be driven by a marketing perspective, online interactions with customers need to be open, honest, and provide value in order to work in a positive way.

Below I share  7 Social Media Tips that will not only help you understand how to interact with your prospects, but they will also guide you to building smarter, better relationships on social networks:

Social Media Tips

1. Plan Your Strategy.

As with any business strategy or marketing campaign, you need to create a solid plan and stick to it.

Outline the steps you intend to take and the goals you hope to achieve in addition to the tools you will need to integrate Social Media into your existing plans.

2. Find People.

Since there are numerous Social Media platforms, it is advisable to first find out where your ideal customers congregate most before settling on the social network you will use.

You will have a favourite.

My advice is to master one before moving on to another.

3. Schedule Time To Be On Social Media

Once you have become a social resource for your customers, you have to be consistent and be there on a frequent and regular basis.

Admittedly, the process can be time consuming and addictive, so schedule time for your marketing and to chat with customers, monitor conversations, and send messages.

4. Be Authentic, Human And Real

Undoubtedly, relationships are easier to create with other people than with businesses.

Customers are likely to be enticed when you use a “human’ tone when connecting.

Simple things like having a picture instead of a business logo will go a long way in endearing you to your customers.

Be real. genuine and who you really are.

5. Establish Your Authority and Expertise.

One of the best ways of interacting with your prospects, demonstrating your expertise online,  is by teaching what you know.  Provide solutions to some of the questions people are asking.

For instance you could scour for blogs and discussion forums where you could answer questions and offer advice on your area of specialization.

Quora.com is a good place for this as well as groups on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and Google +

6. Listen More, Talk Less

It is easy to fall into the trap of talking too much about your product/service while forgetting to listen to your prospects opinions, suggestions or problems.

Since people use social forums to chat, it is prudent to be one who can listen in order to build rapport and create a lasting social relationship.

7. Socialize, Be Friendly

Demonstrate good conversation skills since responding to people is the best way to show people that you are listening.  Its called Social Media for a reason.  We have to be social and not selling.  I saw someone say its “social media”  not “sellamedia”.
