Looking Back On 2017, A Personal Reflection
Looking back on 2017 or any year is a good thing to do at this time of year. 2017 has been a mixture of emotion, good and bad, both personally and in business.
The year began well and in February, I attended Ray Higdon’s event where I was on the success panel. I also received an award for being the “Most Valued Player”.
While I was at this event in Florida I received news my Mother was ill and I needed to go back to England. By the end of the week, my husband and I were back at our house in the UK.
Looking Back – The Sad and Personal Side Of 2017
After the euphoria of the event in Florida, finding out Mum was ill brought me back to earth with a bang. Mum had been diagnosed with lung cancer and within 6 weeks of diagnosis she passed away on the 27th March. Once she discovered what was wrong, Mum decided she didn’t want to live. She refused to eat and basically gave up on everything. Thats why I believe she went so quickly. She died in the way she wanted – at home, with Dad and in her sleep.
The following weeks and months have been emotionally hard. Losing Mum has been very painful and still is and then we had our Dad to think about. He refused to stay in the home where they had lived together and insisted on going into a nursing home. He didn’t want to live with any of us and didn’t want to live alone.
Dad has amazed us all with his bravery and coming to terms with losing his wife of 66 years. His courage is an inspiration to us all. He is doing really well and is settled and as happy as he can be under the circumstances.
Early Highlight of 2017
One of the things Mum knew before she died was that I published my first book
Turning Poverty Into Success: From Pennies In My Purse To Living My Dream Of Traveling The World (click to look)
I was so pleased she was able to see it and I know she was proud of what I had done. My very first attempt at writing a book is a big achievement for me in 2017 and now I feel ready to write another.
If I was writing this again I would add a lot more detail and it would be longer. For a first go though, I still remain happy that I wrote it. Its quite nice calling yourself an author.
The Rest Of 2017 Business Wise
For a few weeks/months after Mum died I lost all momentum. My routine went out of the window for a while and it took me some time to get my mojo back. It made me realise how powerful our daily routine is because when I got out of it, it was tough to get back on track. I did though. Mainly because I totally love what I do and I wanted to remain growing myself and my business.
What was a good thing though, was being able to reflect on what I had been doing and what I wanted to do in the future.
I decided, finally, what I was passionate about and that is personal development and building a coaching business. This is what made me get up in the morning. I realised this more and more as the year progressed.
Although I am still part of a network marketing company, mainly for the health products I use, my main focus is now on developing more coaching for more people, particularly women.
In 2018, I will be appearing on stage at Ray Higdon’s Top Earner Academy Live. Shortly afterwards, I begin training in California with Brendon Burchard to become a Certified High Performance Coach.
I also designed an online course to help anyone with low self esteem and confidence called, Worthy Of Wealth.
