How To Achieve Lasting Change For the New Year
Lasting change may sound a bit daunting if you are someone who is afraid of change.
Ask yourself what changes you want to make in your life to make it a better one in the coming new year, especially if the current year has not been a good one for you.
Are there areas in your life where you want to achieve lasting change?
It could be your job, career, relationships with your partner and children.
You might be someone who wants something more in life and an opportunity to improve it in a great way.
Yesterday, I watched a mini course by Brendon Burchard called 4 Gates To Lasting Change. If you have not heard of Brendon Burchard check him out. He is a total master at personal development and is well respected as a high performance coach.
I have just purchased one of his books which has great reviews and its one that Brendon recommends when talking about effecting change in your life. Click the image to read more about the book. It will take you directly to Amazon.
What Are Brendon’s 4 Gates To Lasting Change?
One – Awareness
Two – Acceptance
Three- Accountability
Four – Action.
Paying attention to the areas above are things you have to explore and implement.
I will break the above titles down for you to give some understanding of how YOU can begin to make a lasting change in your life.
Awareness
Evaluate what is important in your life. Think about HOW you show up and who you really are.
Remember, whoever you are, you can re-set yourself.
Thing about and evaluate:
a) Relationships
b) Health
c) Work
d) Lifestyle
e) Thoughts and feelings
f) Habits.
Acceptance
Acceptance is the opposite of avoidance
Accept yourself first.
Be the genuine you despite what you see in others and what they say.
Learn to accept your past in full and be ok with it. (if you can’t, consider further professional help)
Know and accept what you CAN change and what you CAN’T change.
Accountablity
Take ownership of your own change
Own your reality and stop blaming others for where you are now
Figure things out and decide what you need in life. These are choices and not personality traits.
Create deadlines for what you want to achieve and use a calendar to plan.
Plan ahead
Actions
Generate enthusiasm in the mornings – what suits you: working out, listening to an audio etc. Better to do this than wake up with dread.
Face a fear every day – something you would rather avoid. Teach yourself how to work through it
Prioritise three things out of your to do list. Three things that will give you the most of what you want in life.
Summary
Obviously, in Brendon’s mini course he goes into a lot more detail than I have here.
I could relate to a great deal of it having been through things in my own life. (Read About Me Here)
When you want to achieve lasting change the first thing you must do is DECIDE to do it.
Being someone who achieved real change in her own life, I speak with experience when I tell you that anything is possible if you decide to do it.
If you can practice what I have shared today, you will be in a position to facilitate other people to change also. People in your life, or your team.
Huge thanks to Brendon Burchard for his mini course, for the impact he makes in peoples lives and for the information that I have shared in this post today.
