Investment In You, Your Biggest Business Asset

Investment in ourselves is often seen by many as just another expense they can do without. I learned the hard way that is not the case. Its an investment that is crucial to your growth in life, business and relationships.

When we have a coach or a mentor that we are accountable to it keeps us on our toes and makes us do things we would normally put off.

Years ago as a Social Worker, part of our ongoing development was weekly/monthly supervision by a manager. By supervision I mean someone who would oversee our casework and the decisions we made. It was exploration of our thinking process having someone to ensure our decisions were sound and right, not just legally but morally for any family we were working with.
A great deal of my job was to assess families and people, doing risk assessments, deciding what, if any, action to take.

Being in any type of business requires your thinking process, decision making and risk taking. If you dont have anyone who you can bounce off what you are thinking and doing then you can be blundering along, making crucial mistakes that you might not have made.

Investment In Me

Being coached or mentored is part of your personal and professional development. It can spill over into your life, improving your relationships with family and friends and in particular your partner.

Before I had a coach, I had no idea what I was doing. Because I had been in business before, (offline) I was under the delusional opinion that I didn’t need one. I had a ton of experience, both in life and business. Why on earth would I need to pay for a coach?

What happened was, I stumbled along, wasting time and money. When I enrolled in a training programme about three years ago, I quickly realised that I needed a coach. I needed someone who would have my back, someone who would guide and steer me in the right direction.
That decision changed everything for me.

I wrote a quote on my facebook wall the other day which said:

“Choose your friends wisely. The company you keep can and will affect the opportunities you see”

Being coached by Ray Higdon was a big investment for me and I soon discovered, worth every penny I spent and more. Ray not only has provided me with great support, he has given me exposure to a wider audience and I am mixing with top earners in the industry. Friends and connections I have made have had a big influence now on the way I do things in my business.

The other thing is it has also given me the confidence to pass on my experience and learning to those that I coach.
I am taking things even further now by training to become a High Performance Coach. This training is by Brendon Burchard, who is massive in the personal development industry.

Your Future

None of us is clever enough to do it all alone. If you are working alone from home then this is even more imperative to your success.

Instead of seeing your coaching as another expense, see it as an investment in your future.

This past weekend, I have attended a mastermind with my coach. Not only did I benefit from the coaching but from the connections and friendships I made with other members of the mastermind. When you are mixing with people from all levels of business, you cant fail to pick up valuable advice and guidance from them. Things you can bring back to your own business and life.
