My Experience Will Motivate You
For the longest time I held myself back on social media.
Along the way I’ve also made some big mistakes and at times posted rubbish.
There are some reasons for this. Not excuses- reasons.
At the beginning of working online, about 6 years ago, I hadn’t a clue what I was doing. I joined a network marketing company that sold silver and I didn’t even know what network marketing was.
Because of my lack of knowledge and experience I buried every skill I’d ever gained as a Social Worker. AND those of a successful woman in business that rose to the ranks of Executive Director, Board Member and Shareholder of a company. Part of which I began in my kitchen.
Besides work experience I also buried my life experience. I am a wife, Mother, grandmother and in the past been through divorce. Plus, I’m in my sixties and gathered a bit of wisdom.
All this flew out the window when I began working online.
Why? – No Experience!
The reason, looking back, is I was so new to everything and felt a complete novice. People a third of my age, never mind half of it, seemed to know everything.
I had heard of the word BLOG, but had no idea what it was. I decided to watch a training one day and words like LIST and LEADS came up. Those words meant absolutely nothing to me.
When you haven’t been involved in direct selling you just don’t know what you don’t know.
Skipping past that though, I learned everything I could about what I needed to know. I attended company events, bought trainings and watched webinars.
To be successful, I believed I had to do all that too. However, I remember one day being encouraged to do a webinar. Yikes. The very thought of it made me feel sick.
The very first video I did I said “ermm” more than any other word lol.
I realised after struggling and appearing to be doing ok, that I wasn’t.
I could have given up and sat by my pool enjoying retirement. BUT I was determined plus I would have been bored out of my brains.
NO, I was going to crack this online thing.
Around 4 years ago, I invested in coaching. I paid to be in Ray Higdon’s Top Earner Club Mastermind and I have been there ever since.
It’s been a fantastic journey. I have met some wonderful people, made new friends, travelled to the US numerous times for events. Plus learned a ton about marketing AND myself.
I have had my ups and downs, changed my thinking a dozen times and sometimes felt like giving up.
No matter what I learned I felt like I just didn’t know enough.
What Now?
Last year I suddenly realised that I didn’t want to do what I was doing any more. I sat and brainstormed myself to discover what it was I really wanted to do.
Whilst gaining more confidence, i began to remember my previous experience and skills. I had managed teams, supervised staff, assessed people and their situations, managed budgets etc. etc. etc. To have represented my company at international events, spoke on stage and met with government officials was an honour too.
I chaired panels and meetings, facilitated trainings.
To me, the most logical thing to utilise my experience was coaching. The more I thought about it the more I knew this was the right path.
I hadn’t considered it before because I lacked online confidence, not personal confidence.
With everything I learned from Ray Higdon about marketing and mindset and my previous experience I felt more than ready.
What type of coaching though?
Life coaching?
Business coaching?
I wanted to do a bit of both. So, earlier this year I was personally trained by Brendon Burchard to become a Certified High Performance Coach.
I loved the fact I had an absolute curriculum to share. It covered both life AND business and it was a certification by one of the worlds leading people in Personal and Professional Development.
Right up my street.
I decided I wasn’t hiding under a bushel any longer. The world needed to know I was around and learn what I do.
The biggest thing is being able to show and demonstrate to others that their life can be changed and improved for the better.
Using coaching techniques, strategies and tools to help I am already seeing people being transformed.
AND that’s my goal. To be able to participate in someone else’s transformation.
I have had my success in business and I am living a lifestyle now I could have only dreamed of when I was a broke single parent.
Now it’s my turn to share my experience and help other people realise their dreams and help them on their road to success in life.
I hope this post does motivate you.
The intention is to show you that you can learn new things but not to forget what you have already learned.
In life you will have gained experience in your career.
You will have gained life experience. It all counts, so don’t bury it like I did.
If you did get some vale from My Experience Will Motivate You, I would love it if you left me a comment below.
To YOUR success.
