I suppose that hard-core salespeople would totally disagree with me on the title of this article. However, the way business is done today does not involve direct selling.
Direct Selling: What Is Working?
What does work is to create a sales funnel and use it to sell your products or recruit new members into your business opportunity.
This is actually a great thing for people like you and I who are not salespeople, but have products and a MLM business opportunity to promote.
You cannot build a network marketing home based business without selling products and recruiting new members. This has long been one of the primary reasons why the failure rate in network marketing has been so high.
In the old days 95% of all people who joined an MLM business failed. Often this wasn’t because they weren’t making money, but rather because they were spending so much money trying to build their business and make sales.
Today you can use the Internet to automate pretty much the whole process. I would suggest, however, that you should be involved in the social aspect of network marketing once prospects have identified themselves.
A sales funnel is actually pretty easy to set up, especially with the right tools.
- Blog. Start a blog like I did and add content to it. Use it for expressing your own opinions, providing free training or information, and for prospecting. Learn how to blog here. Or maybe you want want ready made?
- Add a sign-up form. This is a place where people can give you their contact information in exchange for something of value.
I use a video and link to a page where my visitor can give me their name and email address in exchange for information on “7 Must See Sites Before Becoming Wheelchair Bound”.
- Autoresponder. This is where the email address and name is stored. It’s an automatic way to send email and is an important part of the sales funnel. This can be pre-programmed to send out emails over time which help establish your credibility and build relationships. I use a service called Aweber.
- Social media. Join the primary social networking sites which are Facebook and Twitter. You can also join LinkedIn, You Tube, Instagram, and Pinterest if you have time to be active in them.
Social media marketing is an important part of the sales process because it allows you to pre-sell your products, get to know people in a non-threatening way, build relationships, invite them to join your business opportunity, if they are open or introduce them to your products if a business is not what they are looking for.
The days of hard-core selling are long gone. Everything is done now more in the form of pre-selling, which in reality people don’t even realize is happening because of the use of a sales funnel and social media.
