Compare Yourself To Others At Your Peril.
Compare yourself to others and you run the risk of totally de-skilling yourself and stopping you right there in your tracks. We all do it. We look at successful people and tell ourselves we will never be like that.
I am here to tell you not to compare yourself to anyone else. Be proud of who you are and what you want to achieve. Before I say anymore, take a look at my video and hear my views when you decide to compare yourself to other people.
Video: Compare Yourself To Others At Your Peril
As you can observe in the above video, I did compare myself years ago and allowed it to end my career in nursing. When I later decided what I wanted to do, when I saw others who had what I wanted, it spurred me on to achieve it for myself. You can do the same. Don’t get me wrong, we are all guilty of allowing our thoughts to compare ourselves to others. We most probably do it more than we should. However, once you stop and change your thoughts you will be amazed what a difference it could make to your life.
“I cannot say this too strongly: Do not compare yourselves to others. Be true to who you are, and continue to learn with all your might.”
― Daisaku Ikeda, Discussions on Youth

“What are you doing today that you couldn’t have done five, three, or even one year ago? How have you stepped out in the last year that you might have found inconceivable before?” (taken from the above article)
Work hard on your belief in yourself, don’t compare and be proud of who YOU are. You are unique, special and you can achieve something different to anyone else.

people have to remember that they are in their own journey just focus on that rather than playing the compare game
Agreed Sheena. It can be easier said than done but the less we compare ourselves to others the better. Like you said, concentrate on your own journey.
