Facebook!   I love it.   Do You?

Many of us boomers on Facebook use it for fun and business.

Years after Facebook was introduced as the top social media site, many people wonder why it’s still around.

It has monopolized the Internet in many ways to sustain itself, leveraging its relationships with other big name companies. However, the sustainability of Facebook goes much deeper than that, and you might be surprised when you hear the answer.

I was surprised to tell you the truth, but it all makes sense when you think about how many baby boomers there are out there.

You see, when Facebook was first introduced, MySpace was still popular.  Facebook was mostly for college students that used it as a link to communicating with other students.

Then, Facebook took off and became very popular.

By the time Facebook’s popularity waned with the younger crowd, the older crowd had already started using it to find old friends, play games and stay in touch with each other.

While Facebook seemed to be dying, according to the opinions of many young people, it was more popular than ever with the older crowd.

They will continue to use the social media site as long as it is the most popular platform for them to communicate. Other more modern social media sites come and go and young people choose one as the best for whatever reason.

It’s like how Twitter has won over the celebrities.  It really makes you wonder just how long Facebook will be a mainstay and whether or not the company going public had anything to do with that.

My generation had stopped using it for the most part by the time the company went public. It was a good day for the people that believed it would still be a hit and that the company stock would do well.

Who knows how much longer Facebook will still be the ideal site for people of all ages to connect , but the trend continues. (apart from my Granddaughter who thinks its for “oldies”)

And some of the thanks go to older generations who have found the Internet to be a place to keep in contact with long lost friends.

I hope you got some value from todays post Baby Boomers On Facebook Keep The Social Media Platform Soaring.  Please feel free to leave me a comment below if you did.
