How To Have A Balanced Life
If you’re juggling a lot of balls, having a balanced life might seem like a pipe dream. You have days where the balls are in the air and others where they drop to the floor.
Our whole life is a balancing act and we’re always one step away from dropping the balls.
Life in my house was sometimes “organised chaos”, especially when the kids were younger. Being a single parent, holding down a job, the daily grind seemed never ending.
Having a balanced life can leave you feeling more fulfilled.
Prioritising your time, and being more optimistic can help you gain that balance and really help you to live your life with more meaning.
You could begin a new hobby, have a more rewarding job, look after yourself more and learn to cope with stress. Have more time for the people you love being with and do things that mean a lot to you.
Some Ideas For Your Balanced Life
Get Organised and Have A Weekly Plan
A diary, or calendar or even a note pad outlining the things you have to do in a day or a week can really help. It will assist you in balancing your time and achieving your goals.
For example, write things down based on your priorities each week. You may work a set amount of hours each week, but spend your after-work time with family, friends, and meaningful activities. Plan time with your kids or partner or both.
What do you enjoy doing? Find a slot for something you really enjoy.
Give And Take
None of us can “have it all”. Its hard enough to balance our own life but when we have to consider our family and loved ones then it can be even harder. Just know if you concentrate on work and ignore your family then something will suffer. If you concentrate on family and ignore work, then you jeopardise your chances of getting further in your career.
What needs to happen is for you to find a balance that suits both. If you organise your time to keep yourself AND your family happy then you are on the way to a more balanced life.
We all have the same 24 hours in a day. Its how we manage those hours that matter.
In my high performance coaching, I share ways in which my clients can achieve this balance.
Be Positive
Be more positive and stop the negative talk. We can sometimes create situations by thinking the worst. Having a more positive and optimistic outlook is good for the soul and helps you to believe in yourself more.
Always try to re-frame things in a more positive light. Feeling much happier about things will definitely lead you to feeling more balanced.
Look After Yourself
Eat more healthy foods and get plenty of vegetables. Cut out the starches and sugars and drink more water. Make sure you get at least 8-10 hours sleep a night.
Learn to relax more and try doing some meditation, even if its only for 5-10 minutes a day. De-stress by listening to some music or whatever works for you.
You are no good to yourself or others if you don’t have energy and you feel unwell.
Spend Quality Time With Friends and Family
It’s important to make time for people you care about.
Even when you are busy or stressed, make time to hang out with your friends and family. Friendships can help you lower stress and increase your overall sense of well-being.
If you can’t do any of this alone, consider having a coach. A coach can help you learn to have a balanced life, not just at home but in your work as well.
