5 Tips On How To Stay Productive Working From Home5 Tips On How To Stay Productive Working From Home

Working from home is very convenient and helps you to save a lot of money. However, there are also a lot of distractions at home and the only way in which you can remain productive and efficient is by being much disciplined. However, this is not something that everyone is capable of achieving so we have a number of tips that you can make use of in order to stay productive even when you are working from home.

1. Have Working Space Separate

Not having to go to an office and sit on a desk does not mean that you can sit in front of the television with your laptop trying to complete your work. You are advised to set up specific areas of your home where you can work without being distracted by your favorite television show, a crying child or the sight of the dirty dishes. Having a separate workspace from your living space also helps you to get into work mode whenever you are in that environment hence you will be able to put in more work.

2. Set Boundaries

Having a separate space for working is just the first part. You also need to lay down some rules regarding who can get into your workspace and when they can do so. This will help to minimize the distractions when you are working since not anyone can come into your working space when it is time for you to work.

3. Plan your Hours

You need to come up with a schedule for when you will be working depending on the times when you are most productive. You can also inform your friends and family not to disturb you during those times so that you can get a good portion of work done then. Setting a time to work will also keep you motivated to work.

4. Change your thinking

You should not view the convenience of not having to commute to and from work and work regular hours as an excuse to relax. You also need to be a pro-active communicator keeping your family informed about your achievements and live up to their expectations. This way, you will not be tempted to slack off in your work.

5. Balance Life and Work

Even if it may be fun to work for as long as you want, it is always good to know when to stop working and spend some time with the family. This is very important as it will prevent you from becoming a workaholic and the interaction will also help you to grow socially.

Well, there you have it. 5 tips to keep your productivity up even when you are working from home. Keep these in mind and you will notice your productivity improving gradually.

Amen to this post! I worked from the house last week and didn’t set a clear intention on what hours I’d put in and my goal list. Wow, I was all over the place! Great advice!

Great blog, and I LOVE #1!
For a long time I had no designated work space. When I finally built out an office in my house it made ALL THE DIFFERENCE!

Thanks a lot Nate, I appreciate it. My first space was my kitchen table lol, with the dog barking overtime I was on the phone.
