4 Useful Blog Writing Tips

December 30, 2014 by Lynda Kenny 4 Comments

Blog writing is one of the most powerful marketing tools in the internet today. It is preferred by most marketers because it is proven and it’s free.

Online readers love it because it offers them the information they are looking for. So, how can you shine at blog writing?

Here are 4 tips that often get overlooked.

1. Define your audience.

Before you even pick topics to write about, it would help if you can get to know your readers first.

How old are they? What are their pressing needs and questions? What is their profile? What kind of information do they need? What puts them in a position of needing your expertise? What do they want to achieve? What is their educational background and level of comprehension?

The more information you obtain about these people, the better your chances of making your articles highly targeted to their needs and demands.

2. Optimize your content.

Don’t forget the search engines when writing your articles. You need to ensure that you understand their algorithms so you can easily figure out how you can make your articles do well on relevant google searches.

Make use of relevant keywords and strategically place them all throughout your content. Don’t forget to observe appropriate keyword density (2% of your total word count) so you can still make your articles readable.

3. Deliver fresh information.

You will be able to generate much more favorable response online if you write about topics that are relatively new. So, subscribe to relevant blog feeds, or constantly do your research to keep yourself posted about issues that may have direct impact on your chosen niche or on the lives of your potential clients.

4. Keep your articles short.

As you might already know, the people you are writing your articles for have a limited attention span. These people don’t have the patience nor the time to sit in front of their computers for hours just to get the information they need.

It is better if you can give them what they want. You can do this by making your articles relatively short and to the point. If you are discussing a very broad topic break it up to several segments.

Post your first article on submission sites and post your other articles on your website. This is one strategy that can help you promote further reading while increasing your page views all at the same time.

These 4 powerful tips will help you shine as an blog writer.
